Iron Spring Farm KWPN-NA Keuring
We presented Urus Blue STG in the 2024 Jumper Colts and Uforia STG in the Jumper fillies and both babies were awarded a First Premium. Cascara 22 was inspected to enter the KWPN Studbook, and received her Sport Predicate. Uforia STG was awarded the High Scoring Young Jumper at the Keuring! It was a stellar day for us and we are so excited for these babies futures!

RIP SLF Chablis
​On Wednesday July 5 we made the heartbreaking decision to lay our 'perfect Pearl' to rest. Pearl was suffering from horrible fast growing melanomas... Everywhere. Over the past few years we had had several consults from different equine hospitals with no solution other than to ways to keep her comfortable. She was becoming increasingly less comfortable, and it was very evident that her passing was imminent. Pearl let me know that she was very ready to wear her wings over the rainbow bridge. Our wonderful veterinarian made sure Pearl's  passing was quick and painless.  ​
​Pearl had a wonderful career, and retirement. She loved being a mother above all else. Even in retirement I could put a saddle on her to hack around with a baby following and she was always 'show ring perfect' to ride.
Before becoming a broodmare Pearl was Susan Lockner's partner in the show ring, showing as SLF Chablis. After her retirement from sport Pearl had four beautiful foals for us; 2020 Prada Z, 2021 Roxbury, 2022 STG Chevalier en Satin Blanc, and 2023 Tanqueray STG. ​
Pearl was the kindest, purest soul I have ever known. Looking into her big, kind eyes you could just feel it. I can't really describe it, but if you had the privilege to know her, you would understand.  Our perfect Pearl  was an angel on loan from heaven, and I am so very grateful to Susan for giving us the honor of owning her and above all else, the privilege of loving her .

RIP Uwho
On Friday May 3rd we lost a member of our family, our matriarch , the queen.. my beloved Uwho. She made my dreams of becoming a breeder come true. Uwho was the daughter of Iron Spring farm's legendary stallion Consul, her dam's sire Argus is the only stallion in the world that successfully performed in Grand Prix jumping and in international dressage. ​

Uwho was a wonderful mother who gave me 4 beautiful foals. 2017 Marvelest, 2018 Ngagement, 2020 Phancy This, 2017 STG Balthazar. Uwho was my favorite ride and reminded me so much of my beloved Lucy when I had the privilege to ride her. She was fearless and brave on the trails, uphill and forward thinking. I share this loss with my husband and with my dear friend Regina who loved her as much as we did. 
There is a void here on our farm and I am heartbroken.

Emmy our recipient mare delivered a perfectly correct colt! This colt is very special! He is by Chacco Blue and his dam is our GP mare Barcelona. He was sold / reserved in-utero. He is an absolute love bug to boot!

Cascara delivered a gorgeous filly by For Edition 1. She is beautiful and we are absolutely thrilled. Not sure I want to sell her right now.. but will have her marked available in case the perfect match is out there and will get her out and showing.

Sterling Stables awarded two of the coveted top ten awards for the KWPN North American tour the year 2023!
SLF Chablis' 2023 colt Tanqueray STG finished up in 9th place with a total score of 79

Barca (Barcelona) was awarded 4th place in the Jumper Mares! Im beyond proud of these horses and to be recognized in such regard among all of the breeders in North America I am so very grateful.

Barcelona (Barca) was presented to the German Judges at the ISF Kwpn-Na keuring and awarded her Keur Predicate ! Keur predicate indicates the conformation of the mare and her talent for the sport are above average. Her GP jumping record previously earned her the Sport predicate, we are so proud her!

 It was a stellar day for us and we are so very grateful and blessed.

Leto qualifies for YHS Nationals!

2022 colt STG Chevalier en Satin Blanc(aka Leto),  had a great showing and scored a 8.06 which currently puts him second highest in the jumper class for Yearlings and qualifies him for the Young Horse Show Series (YHS) National Finals  in November!
We are so proud of our Leto and so happy to see his owners getting him out and about! We are very excited for his future! Good Luck in Tryon at the Nationals!

Amore Reserve at WEC!

February 2023

Sterling Stables bred, 2017 colt AMORE by Amazing (Balou du Rouet)  was Reserve Champion in the Baby Greens last week at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, FL.  We are so proud and  happy for Jill Hardie his owner. Amore remains very dear to our hearts and was the only baby out of my treasured mare NL Baltic Anika.  I will always be his biggest fan!

Using ICSI Technology we now have a small number of frozen embryos available from Sterling Stables mares! Embryos are stored at SBS at their Maryland location, and are available for purchase for the buyers to implant into their own recipient mare or we can have a recipient mare carry and foal the baby out for you here at Sterling Stables. Sterling Stables bred, 2017 colt Marevelest wrapped up his 5 yr old show season with year end points earning him the Maiden Hunter Championship for the Courses by Design 2022 show series held at Gleneayre Farm in Lumberton, New Jersey. Sterling Stables would like to welcome Barceona to the family'! Barcelona is sired by Cartano who is by the legendary son of Capitol 1, Carthagos. Her dam Couleur Fama Sr Z showed up to 1.5 m in Ireland and was sired by the great Couleur Rubin.
'Barb' has shown up to 1.5m in Europe before coming to the US in 2016 and has most recently been competing in the 1.3m with a junior rider.
She will begin her new career as a broodmare in the spring and we are keeping fingers crossed for a 2023 foal out of this lovely mare.

Sterling Stables proudly announces our newest broodmare Ekarla (Ekarla T)!  After a successful career in the jumper ring, we are so thrilled for the future sport horse offspring  this mare will produce for us here at Sterling Stables! Ekarla's sire is the fabulous Ustinov, 2004 champion of the KWPN Stallion Show and an international  competitor in the sport up to international 1.50m level. Ustinov was awarded with the Keur predicate in 2015. Ekarla's Dam Karla, was awarded Ster predicate with KWPN and is by Karla is by the great stallion Damiro B.

​Chablis foaled a gorgeous black/going grey colt at 3:15 am,  by the legendary Cornet Obolensky. This beautiful boy has been sold inutero and will be going  to Shadowlake farm in Ohio this fall.

Wonderful day at Sally Wheeler East coast championships! Sterling Stables bred Marvelest was second in the 3 yr old colts in hand with Jay Raach at the reins. In his first showing u/s Marvelest finished 4th in 3 yr olds under saddle, ridden by A.J. Peterson of Ev-ry Farm.

Ngagement was second in a very big 2yr old fillies championship class, shown by Charlie Brown. Ngagement also won the KWPN High point Dutch Warmblood at the show!

VA Young Horse Festival:
On their first outing of the year due to Covid-19 Sterling Stables bred babies had a wonderful weekend in Virginia.  Marvelest (2017 colt, Lestat x Uwho) Won his 3 year old colt/geldings class, handled by Jay Raach. In the 2 yr old Fillies class Ngagement (2018 Diamond Hit x Uwho) went on to place second in a very big class, handled by Charlie Brown.

I received Ngagement’s USEF/USHJA Award today! She ended up 6th in Zone 2 horse of the year / Hunter breeding yearling filly. We weren’t chasing points and only did a few shows. Ngagement is by Diamond Hit and out of our Consul mare, Uwho

​Proud Breeder moment! Both Marvelest and Ngagment represented our mare Uwho, and our breeding program here bringing home a third in the 'Produce of Dam' class, and 4th in the breeders class. Sterling Stables is proud to announce that Ngagement made her debut in the Hunter Breeding yearlings! She placed 2nd, her first outing off of our farm. We are feeling very proud! Thank you to Jay Raach for handling.
 In addition our 2017 colt Marvelest was 2nd in the 2 year old Hunter Breeding class! This was his second ever show, the first since his yearling debut at Devon. ​
Both were handled by Jay Raach, of Rock Solid Stables in PA.

Welcome SLF Chablis

We are very excited to announce our new broodmare SLF Chablis, (Comte/Grandessa).  This lovely Hanoverian mare is by Comte, a Contendro I son combining the blood of Contender / Grannus and Landadel the most proficient jumper stallions of the last 20 years. Her dam  Grandessa is by Graf top, an excellent sire of jumping talent, as well as gifted dressage horses.  After a successful career in the jumper ring, we are so thrilled for the future sport horse offspring  this mare will produce for us here at Sterling Stables!
