SLF Chablis
RIP July 3, 2024
On Wednesday July 5 we made the heartbreaking decision to lay our 'perfect Pearl' to rest. Pearl was suffering from horrible fast growing melanomas... Everywhere. Over the past few years we had had several consults from different equine hospitals with no solution other than to ways to keep her comfortable. She was becoming increasingly less comfortable, and it was very evident that her passing was imminent. Pearl let me know that she was very ready to wear her wings over the rainbow bridge. Our wonderful veterinarian made sure Pearl's passing was quick and painless.
Pearl had a wonderful career, and retirement. She loved being a mother. Even in retirement I could put a saddle on her to hack around with a baby following and she was always 'show ring perfect' to ride. Before becoming a broodmare Pearl was Susan Lockner's partner in the show ring, showing as SLF Chablis. After her retirement from sport. Pearl had four beautiful foals for us; 2020 Prada Z, 2021 Roxbury, 2022 STG Chevalier en Satin Blanc , and 2023 Tanqueray STG.

Pearl was the kindest, purest soul I have ever known. Looking into her big, kind eyes you could just feel it. I can't really describe it, but if you had the privilege to know her, you would understand. Our perfect Pearl was an angel on loan from heaven, and I am so very grateful to Susan for giving us the honor of owning her and above all else, the privilege of loving her .

Bred in Wildeshausen Germany and imported as a yearling to Canada by South Lane Farm, Chablis success began at her Canadian Hanoverian performance test where she was the Mare Performance Test Winner awarded her 1A. This lovely mare proved to be a unicorn in every way with a heart of gold. SLF Chablis has competed to 1.3m and schooled to GP. She passes on her wonderful demeanor, athleticism and substantial bone to her offspring.

Chablis' pedigree combines the blood of decades of successful performance horses. Her sire Comte, a Contendro I son standing at Celle, combines the blood of Contender / Grannus and Landadel the most proficient jumper stallions of the last 20 years. Comte finished 6th out of 47 stallions with an overall score of 124,67 with a score of 130.42 in his jumping index. In 2012 Comte was rated as the second most successful jumping sire of Germany. The 2003 Contendro son was the jumping Reserve Champion of his Stallion Performance Test in Adelheidsdorf, and has since competed successfully up to S Level (1.40 m) under Joachim Winter. His greatest talent, however, is producing excellent offspring for the sport of jumping. *Comte awarded with the Grande-Prize

Chablis' dam sire Graf Top is as an excellent sire of jumping talent, as well as gifted dressage horses. In 2006 he ranked #2 in the German Hanoverian Stallion book for his daughters' breeding values for jumping (score 171), but also ranks high for dressage breeding values. Graf Top is out of a full sister to the dam of Laptop, and combines the jumping talent and willingness of both Graf Grannus and Calypso II. |
